Firefox 1.0 production release is ready to go! Developed in Mountain View, with some help from Sun Microsystems, IBM and teams of engineers world-wide, Mozilla claims Firefox 1.0 to be faster and more secure than MSIE. That’s enough to get me curious.

In the heat of the battle between copyright infringement versus fair use, WIRED magazine here in SF is introducing its Sample CD labeled “WIRED: Rip.Sample.Mash.Share.” along with the Creative Commons “Some Rights Reserved” mark. The CD has new tracks from artists such as the Beastie Boys, David Byrne from The Talking Heads, and many other talented artists. What’s so great about this CD is that all the artists have agreed to give up some rights to their songs so that they can be shared or sampled for use in other works, with the caveat that the work be used for non-commercial purposes only. So don’t be suprised if you hear some of these beats im my flash movies
One benefit of this new project is to keep lawyers at bay, and to give creative artists some freedom to derive new work from other people’s creations.
Check out the November issue of WIRED to read about this in greater detail.
